How we know
We use crowdsourcing from real patients who have already recently called in and volunteers to inquire about updates in status. If you are a representative from a clinic, please let us know if you would like to update your status.

What is OHIP?
OHIP is Ontario's public health insurance. It pays for visits to family doctors, most tests, and hospital care. Most people who live in Ontario can get it. New residents may need to wait a short time. A doctor who bills OHIP should not charge you for insured care.
How do I get a health card?
Go to a ServiceOntario centre with proof of who you are, proof that you can live in Canada, and proof of your Ontario address. You will get a photo health card in the mail. Bring the card to every doctor visit.
I don't have a health card. Who will see me?
Community Health Centres and Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics see people without OHIP. If you are a refugee claimant, the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) covers you at clinics that accept it. Tell us your insurance status and we only suggest clinics that will see you.
What is Health Care Connect?
Health Care Connect is a free government program. You register once. A nurse looks for a family doctor or nurse practitioner near you who is taking new patients. It can take a while, so it is a good idea to also contact clinics yourself, that is what this map is for.
What if I need care now?
If it is an emergency, call 911. For urgent but not life-threatening problems, try a walk-in clinic or call Health811 (dial 811) for advice, any time, in many languages.
